The mission of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences is to advance the understanding of the critical importance of physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles for the state, nation, and world.

The department offers programs that prepare students to pursue careers that utilize exercise interventions for both healthy and diseased populations and/or careers designed for students who wish to enter a health care-related field (that does not require licensure, certification or registry status).

For undergraduate degree, we offer a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science. There are currently .

Along with the undergraduate program, we also offer two different graduate degree programs: M.S. in Health and Movement Sciences and Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Movement Science. Each program offers unique and challenging opportunities to qualified candidates both in the classroom and in research.  For more information on each program, visit their individual pages by clicking the links above.

We also currently offer one post-baccalaureate certificate: Post-Baccalaureate Health Sciences Certificate. This program is designed for students who have already received a baccalaureate degree and wish to pursue their undergraduate pre-health sciences requirements at VCU.
