Academic Advising

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University considers academic advising a cooperative effort between the adviser and the student. Faculty advisers in the Department provide recommendations to their advisees in terms of academic planning and career goals, and expect their advisees to take a continuous, active role in this process. The student has the ultimate responsibility of his/her schedule and academic plans, including adherence to all deadlines set by the University as indicated on the academic calendar and meeting degree requirements as specified in the VCU Undergraduate Bulletin.

Schedule a meeting with your Academic Adviser:

Emily Garcia: garciaea2@vcu.edu (804-828-1173)
Kevin Peggs: peggskw@vcu.edu  (804-827-4841)
Pamela Cornell: pmcornell@vcu.edu (804-828-1948)

All advising appointments with your academic advisor can be scheduled through Navigate. You should plan to meet with your academic advisor every semester to review your goals and graduation plan. Students can access Navigate two ways, via the my.vcu.edu portal, or the Navigate Mobile App.

After you make an appointment, you will receive an email the day before your scheduled appointment to remind you of the date, time and location.  You can also use the system to cancel appointments.
